Se sei una persona orientata alla filosofia della stagionalità anche nello scegliere i fiori da regalare, dicembre non ti deluderà. Contrariamente a quello che si pensa, offre delle belle sorprese. Se sei invece un’amante del classico, allora hai solo l’imbarazzo della scelta, perché Natale è un periodo di tradizioni consolidate anche sul fronte dei fiori e delle piante.
La Rosa di Natale
L’Elleboro, nome scientifico Helleborus, è un fiore coraggioso che apre le sue corolle nel pieno dell’inverno. È considerato la rosa di Natale, proprio perché fiorisce nel periodo delle festività natalizie.
Alcune varietà nascono spontaneamente anche in Italia. È una pianta rustica che abita prati di montagna e sottoboschi. Fa parte della nostra cultura. Si erge in giardini addormentati e ci ricorda silenziosamente che cose meravigliose accadono.
Con la corolla bianca e le foglie verde intenso, le piante di Ellebori sono perfette da regalare nel periodo natalizio.

L’agrifoglio, nome scientifico Ilex aquifolium, è una pianta molto diffusa, ma l’usanza di utilizzare l’Agrifoglio come come decorazione arriva dal nord.
Anche le famiglie più povere potevano decorare la loro casa per Natale grazie a questo bellissimo arbusto verde con bacche rosse.
Già prima della nascita di Gesù, il fatto che in inverno, quando gli alberi perdevano le foglie, questa pianta fosse così viva e splendente, le ha fatto attribuire significati positivi e poteri bene augurali.
Una leggenda cristiana racconta che alla nascita di Gesù, un orfanello intrecciò una corona di alloro da portare in dono. Vergognandosi per il regalo così povero però, il bambino si mise a piangere. Gesù, toccando la corona, fece diventare le foglie verdi e lucenti e le lacrime del bambino piccole bacche rosse, trasformando il semplice alloro in una bellissima corona decorata.
Inoltre, l’agrifoglio con le sue spine ricorda la corona di spine di Gesù e le bacche rosse ne ricordando il sangue. Anche per questo motivo, il sempreverde è diventato un elemento tradizionale delle decorazioni natalizie.

Vischio
Il vischio, Viscum album, è il simbolo dell’amore.
È una pianta cespugliosa con piccole foglie che crescono in coppie opposte sui rami e fiori bianchi o verdi da cui nascono, in autunno, le bacche bianche, preziose perle che adornano naturalmente la pianta.
Il vischio è diventato un simbolo delle festività natalizie, anche se la tradizione vuole che ci si baci sotto un suo ramoscello nel giorno di San Silvestro, come augurio di prosperità e fortuna per il nuovo anno.
Il vischio nel linguaggio segreto dei fiori significa Supero tutti gli ostacoli.
C’è solo l’imbarazzo della scelta se hai deciso di augurare buone feste e buon anno con fiori e piante. Il Natale è l’occasione giusta per rinverdire tradizioni, ma soprattutto relazioni con amici e parenti. Regalare un fiore è un bellissimo modo per fare sapere che li pensi.
